On Sunday, BGN officials visited a kitchen being developed at Husein Sastranegara Airbase, Bandung, West Java.
According to a press release received from the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) here on Monday, the visit was meant to ensure that all the facilities at the kitchen met the standards determined by the BGN.
"The BGN team provided us with valuable inputs expected to help the kitchen operate according to the standards," commander of the airbase, Colonel Alfian, said.
By conforming to the qualifications and standards, the kitchen is expected to produce sufficient nutritious meals for children studying in schools located in the vicinity of the airbase, he added.
He further said that during their visit, BGN officials also inspected the kitchen's design, level of hygiene and preparedness, and food ingredient management.
Earlier, Chief of Staff of the TNI AU Air Chief Marshal Mohamad Tonny Harjono informed that each of the designated kitchens built at airbases would have the capacity to produce three thousand to four thousand meal portions daily.
Speaking to the media at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, Jakarta, on November 20, 2024, he said that his side has appointed several airbases as providers of food for the meals programs.
The designated military infrastructures include Halim Perdanakusuma Airbase; Abdulrachman Saleh Airbase in Malang, East Java; Sulaiman and Husein Sastranegara airbases in Bandung; and Adi Soemarmo Airbase in Solo, Central Java.
Some of the airbases have carried out a trial of the program at nearby schools.
Harjono assured that the TNI AU will produce high-quality meals as the BGN will help monitor the entire cooking process.
