Jakarta (ANTARA) - The speculated establishment of a state revenue ministry or agency was not among the topics discussed during the plenary meeting of the Red and White Cabinet at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, on Monday.

President Prabowo Subianto presided over the meeting that brought together all ministers serving in his administration.

"To date, there have been no talks about the formation of a state revenue agency during a Cabinet meeting," Chief of the Presidential Communication Office, Hasan Nasbi, said at a press conference at the Presidential Office in Jakarta.

He underscored that despite the rumors about the new institution circulating in the public, the Finance Ministry is functioning as usual under the command of Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati and her three deputies: Thomas Djiwandono, Suahasil Nazara, and Anggito Abimanyu.

"Until now, the Ministry of Finance is still working as usual with one minister and three deputy ministers. Everything is running normally," he said.

The discourse on the establishment of a state institution charged with managing Indonesia's state revenue was brought up by Hashim Djojohadikusumo, the chair of the Advisory Council of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin).

At the 2024 National Meeting of Kadin in Jakarta on Sunday, the brother of President Prabowo revealed that a ministry of state revenue would be formed to help improve the tax and excise systems, among other things.

According to him, President Prabowo will name Finance Deputy Minister Abimanyu as Minister of State Revenue.

Djojohadikusumo further informed that Abimanyu's current position at the Finance Ministry is only temporary due to the ministry establishment plan.
