Referring to the PwC study in 2023, AI is projected to contribute up to US$1 trillion (around Rp15.9 quadrillion) to the gross domestic product of the Southeast Asian region by 2030.
Based on the results of the study, Hafid remarked that Indonesia has the potential to earn up to US$366 billion (Rp5.8 quadrillion), which can drive national economic growth to 18.8 percent.
According to Meutya, such a figure far exceeds the national economic growth target of eight percent set by President Prabowo Subianto.
"Hence, if we can really adopt AI, it means the president's (economic growth) target can be achieved," she remarked.
The president has emphasized that digital transformation is a strategic step to overcome digital inequality and accelerate economic growth to support Indonesia's vision as a high-income country by 2034.
Meutya also noted that the collaboration between the Communication and Digital Affairs Ministry and Microsoft in the elevAIte Indonesia program aligns with the president's vision.
"We see that this program must be a program that is able to equip the younger generation with a workforce, with AI skills that are in accordance with the needs of industry and society," she remarked.
