She added that the government views the industry sector as the main driver of technological advancement.Jakarta (ANTARA) - Collaboration between the government and industry actors is the key for Indonesia to make the most of advanced technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI), according to Communication and Digital Affairs Minister Meutya Hafid.
"Without reliable digital infrastructure and strong ties among stakeholders, we will not be able to optimize technology like AI," she remarked at the AI for Indonesia 2024 event in Jakarta on Wednesday.
On that note, Hafid highlighted that the government has been striving to forge and maintain its partnership with the industry sector to enable AI to grow in the country.
She added that the government views the industry sector as the main driver of technological advancement.
The minister then highlighted that President Prabowo Subianto had made similar statements at the international level.
At the APEC CEO Summit held in Peru in November, the president emphasized the need for countries to adopt a prudent approach to technological breakthroughs to ensure that technology brings significant progress to the world instead of unleashing problems, she remarked.
In view of this, the minister pushed for implementing well-calculated policies and regulations to allow AI to grow without undermining social and economic aspects.
Hafid then affirmed that Indonesia is determined to optimize the conveniences offered by AI and ensure equal access to the technology for all, including by organizing an AI training program expected to help produce more digitally capable talents.
Furthermore, the minister called on all parties, including industry players and academicians, to work hand in hand to pave the way for an inclusive and sustainable AI ecosystem.
"It is crucial that we all collaborate, communicate, and negotiate when it comes to AI, as conveyed by Mr. President at the APEC Summit in Peru," she concluded.
