Secretary of KKP's Directorate General of the Strengthening of Fishery Products' Competitiveness, Machmud, emphasized that his institution is committed to serving as a prominent actor in implementing President Prabowo Subianto's flagship program.
"The KKP is poised to make the nutritious meals program a success with fish menus, considering that this program constitutes an investment expected to help produce quality human resources in the future," he remarked in Biak Numfor on Friday.
He pointed out that fish is a rich source of valuable proteins and contains Omega-3 fatty acids, which can support healthy growth in children and help them develop into exceptional individuals.
In addition to Biak Numfor, Machmud stated that the ministry promoted fish consumption through a similar trial held in Bitung, North Sulawesi; Kampar, Riau; Pekalongan, Central Java; Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan; and Merauke, South Papua.
He highlighted that 12 thousand packages of nutritious fish meals were distributed during a trial on December 9-13 in Bitung.
"The KKP provided the necessary ingredients, oversaw the cooking process, and participated in the distribution process at schools," he stated while noting that the ministry worked in collaboration with the National Nutrition Agency.
Apart from conducting such trials, he said the ministry also supports the program by providing the requisite data, such as production maps, commodity maps, and information on micro, small, and medium enterprises that run businesses in the fisheries sector.
Meanwhile, Acting Regional Secretary of Biak Numfor, Z. L. Mailoa, affirmed that the Biak Numfor district government fully supports the Free Nutritious Meals program.
"Papuan indigenous children will be part of Indonesia's golden generation in 2045. Hence, we need to prepare them by providing nutritious meals," he remarked.
