"(We had) 471 golden visa users with an investment of Rp9 trillion," director of residence permits and immigration status, Jaya Saputra, said at a press briefing on Tuesday.
He informed that the number of visas issued by Immigration from January 1 to December 15, 2024, stood at 5,162,775 visas in which 4,635,858 visas, or 89 percent of the visas, were visas on arrival.
Meanwhile, the number of single-entry visas was recorded at 420,529, multiple-entry visas at 43,292, and limited stay visas at 62,630.
According to Saputra, visa services made the largest contribution to the non-tax state revenue (PNBP) of the Directorate General of Immigration. Around 56 percent of the total PNBP of the Directorate General of Immigration this year came from visa services.
As of December 15, the directorate generated a total PNBP of Rp8.58 trillion (US$519 billion), higher than the target of Rp6 trillion (US$363 billion), he highlighted.
The Golden Visa Program was inaugurated by seventh Indonesian president Joko Widodo on July 25.
The policy is based on Regulation of the Minister of Law and Human Rights Number 22 of 2023 concerning Visas and Residence Permits and the Regulation of the Minister of Finance Number 82 of 2023.
Golden visas comprise several visa types, including visas for individual investors, corporate investors, former Indonesian citizens (WNIs), descendants of former WNIs, second homes, global talents, and world figures.
This type of visa eases foreigners' investment plan and work in Indonesia. The golden visa allows longer stays in Indonesia, namely five and 10 years, with certain investment requirements.
Other benefits provided to golden visa holders include priority access to immigration service lines at international airports and no requirement to apply for a limited stay permit (ITAS).
