Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia needs to drive the government, the private sector, and members of the public to work hand in hand toward realizing equity in high-quality education for all, Primary and Secondary Education Minister Abdul Mu'ti emphasized.

"We call this approach universal participation, where all parties are involved in aligned measures," he remarked as a keynote speaker in a discussion forum titled "Actualizing the Golden Indonesian 2045 Vision: Quality and Equitable Education" in Jakarta on Thursday.

Mu'ti stressed that the government cannot and should not work alone to provide reliable educational services to all citizens.

"The government's strength and funds will mean nothing in the absence of support from the strategic partners and parties that have been assisting it in its programs," he pointed out.

Furthermore, the minister highlighted that his office plans to explore the potential to establish more creative and innovative partnerships with various parties.

He then spotlighted the so-called universal participation, pointing to the cooperation forged between the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education and the philanthropic educational organization Tanoto Foundation as an example of the implementation of the idea.

On that note, the minister applauded the independent organization for exerting concrete efforts toward high-quality and equitable educational services in the country, including by organizing the discussion forum.

Moreover, Mu'ti stated that the Tanoto Foundation's contributions to the development of Indonesia's education sector are evident from its initiative to enhance the capacity of teachers and headmasters in the country.

He expressed hope that the government and the foundation would continue to work in synergy to realize a sound level of education, which is a prerequisite to the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision.

"Tanoto could partner with the government in the development of schools and the identification of an educational model for certain regions," he stated.
