Subki Miuldi, the head of the immigration office at Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Tangerang, Banten, said on Tuesday that more than 2.7 million foreign nationals arrived in the country this year. This marks an increase from around 2.2 million in 2023.
He noted that these foreign nationals' arrivals were processed through Indonesia's largest airport.
Bismo Surono, the head of the airport's immigration checkpoint, added that the number of Indonesians traveling abroad also increased significantly during the same period. The number rose to more than 5.2 million in 2024, up from around 4.4 million in 2023.
These citizens mainly traveled to Asian countries, such as Malaysia and Singapore, and the Middle East.
Surono said that the airport had added 15 auto-gates to accommodate the growing number of arrivals and departures.
