Adi stated on Wednesday that the decision to distribute 10 kilograms of rice per recipient for six months was made during a limited meeting held on Monday.
The initiative aims to increase the allocation of food assistance for communities and maintain balance at both the upstream and downstream levels.
Adi noted that Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan proposed the rice assistance initiative during the meeting.
"The government, in collaboration with the State Logistics Agency (Bulog), is ready to distribute a total of 960,000 tons of rice to 16 million food assistance recipients over six months in 2025," Adi remarked.
He said the rice assistance program is part of the government's economic policy package and serves as relief aid for low-income groups.
"The government continues to refine the database of aid beneficiaries in 2025. Therefore, we are focusing on women who head poor households and elderly individuals who live alone," Adi explained.
He confirmed that the government will use the 2025 Socio-Economic Registration Data from the National Development Planning Ministry (Bappenas) as the database for rice aid distribution.
"The data includes 15.6 million beneficiaries, as well as 400,000 women who head poor households and elderly individuals living alone," Adi stated.
The rice assistance program is expected to support the government's poverty alleviation efforts.
