"To realize the eight percent economic growth (target), support from targeted infrastructure is needed," the minister stated in a meeting with five ministries under his ministry's coordination in Jakarta on Wednesday.
The infrastructure covers various sectors, including dams and irrigation networks, which can support the agricultural sector and bolster national food security to realize food self-sufficiency.
He further emphasized that infrastructure for the land, sea, air, and railway transportation sectors should be able to facilitate the mobility of people and goods and reduce logistics costs.
The minister also underscored the need for good spatial planning and land management at the national, provincial, district, and city levels so as to provide legal certainty and increase economic value in various regions.

Furthermore, housing and residential area development is a major concern for the government, considering that around 10 million families still do not have a home and over 20 million houses are not habitable.
"We can find solutions for people in urban and rural areas to live a decent and healthier life," he remarked.
In addition, the development of transmigration areas in various regions is expected to create new centers of economic growth that contribute to the improvement of the welfare of the local communities.
The minister underlined that the existing transmigration areas must continue to be revitalized to expedite economic development in those areas.
Yudhoyono emphasized that his ministry is pushing for equitable infrastructure development that benefits everyone in all regions of Indonesia.
"We want to create ideal transmigration areas. This is a pilot project of the Coordinating Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development," he affirmed.
