Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto emphasized Indonesia's diplomatic commitment to fostering sound relations with all countries and major economic blocs, emphasizing no side-taking in its approach.

"Indonesia wants to maintain close relations with all countries and economic blocs around the world," President Prabowo remarked during a joint press statement with Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba at the Bogor Presidential Palace here on Saturday.

He expressed Indonesia's keenness to maintain these robust relations to reduce geopolitical tensions among major powers.

During a bilateral meeting with Japanese PM Ishiba, President Prabowo addressed various topics, including cooperation between their nations, regional and global challenges, and their mutual commitment to enhancing existing partnerships.

The leaders also agreed to continue collaborating in key areas, such as economic and infrastructure development, energy security, and industrial downstreaming, as well as cooperation in the agriculture, human resources, and health sectors.

President Prabowo also extended an invitation to the Japanese Government to participate in Indonesia's ongoing downstreaming or industrialization initiatives.

He conveyed this invitation to the Japanese delegation during a bilateral meeting after a one-on-one meeting with PM Ishiba at the President's office.

Earlier, President Prabowo received PM Ishiba at the Bogor Palace, Bogor, West Java, on Saturday. The prime minister and his entourage arrived at the palace at 10 a.m. Western Indonesia Time (WIB) after paying a visit to the Main National Heroes Cemetery in Jakarta.

Upon his arrival, PM Ishiba was welcomed by cavalry troops at the palace gate.

The prime minister is the first foreign country leader to be received by Prabowo at the Bogor Palace since his inauguration as President of Indonesia on October 20, 2024.
