"This social barn is similar to a buffer stock during a disaster. It contains children's clothing, ready-to-eat food, rice, blankets, and other logistics needed in an emergency," he informed on Tuesday.
According to the minister, the facility is designed to provide initial assistance after a disaster occurs, with additional assistance distributed through social centers from the nearest area.
Besides the facility in Indramayu, Indonesia has 731 social barns spread across the country, Yusuf informed.
"With this addition, we hope that the response to emergency conditions can be faster and more measurable," he added.
During his visit, the minister also held a dialogue with 399 social pillars in Indramayu, consisting of Family Hope Program (PKH) assistants, sub-district social welfare workers (TKSK), disaster preparedness cadets, Peace Pioneers (Pordam), and social rehabilitation assistants.
During the dialogue, he stressed the importance of aligning work and targets between the central government and social pillars in the regions, so the program can have a real impact on the community.
"We want all efforts to be measurable. We want our programs to produce real impact on the community," he said.
He also expressed the hope that the programs implemented in Indramayu can support poverty reduction, according to the direction of the central government.
During his visit, Yusuf also reviewed the construction of houses and facilities at the fishermen's village, which is targeted for completion at the end of this month to relocate residents affected by tidal flooding.
The construction of the fishermen's village was carried out over an area of 1.6 hectares, consisting of 9,900 square meters for housing areas and 6,100 square meters for public and economic facilities.
