Communication and Digital Affairs Minister Meutya Hafid emphasized that regional collaboration is key to the success of ASEAN's digital transformation.
"Indonesia fully supports the steps in the Bangkok Digital Declaration, which are in line with our vision to strengthen digital inclusion and encourage technological innovation," she said in a statement.
"The benefits of digital transformation must reach all levels of society, including those in remote areas," she added.
According to the minister, the declaration reflects the collective commitment of ASEAN countries to build a safe, innovative, and inclusive digital region.
The Bangkok Digital Declaration includes a number of strategic steps, such as strengthening regional cooperation to combat online fraud, developing trusted artificial intelligence (AI) governance, and expanding quality Internet access throughout the region.
As part of its contribution, Indonesia introduced the Indonesia Digital Vision (IDV), an initiative to expand connectivity, improve digital literacy, and develop technological talent.
The initiative supports the ASEAN Digital Masterplan 2025 and seeks to strengthen ASEAN's role as the center of the global digital economy, which is projected to be worth trillions of US dollars by 2030.
Hafid explained that the Bangkok Digital Declaration will not only serve as a strategic foundation for ASEAN's digital future but also strengthen cooperation between countries in the region.
As one of the largest digital economies in ASEAN, Indonesia continues to play an active role in encouraging inclusive and sustainable digital transformation, she pointed out.
On the sidelines of the 5th ADGMIN, Hafid also held a bilateral meeting with Singapore's Minister for Digital Development and Information, Josephine Teo, to discuss child protection policies for digital platforms.
