In a statement issued on Monday, OIKN head Basuki Hadimuljono said that the acceleration of banking services development in Nusantara is essential to complete the ecosystem that will be needed by people who move to the new capital.
The banking service offices are targeted to start operating in the first quarter of 2026 to encourage fast and efficient banking services that meet the needs of Nusantara residents.
"We have prepared the facilities and infrastructure in the capital city. The President has given directions to carry out executive, legislative, and judicial activities in Nusantara in 2028. Starting in January 2025, we will map locations to start road construction," he informed.
Hadimuljono recently held a meeting with several leading banks in Indonesia, including Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI), Bank Mandiri, Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI), and Bank Central Asia (BCA).

The OIKN head expressed the hope that the meeting would accelerate the realization of banking sector investment in Nusantara and create an inclusive economic ecosystem for the development of a modern capital city.
The development of Nusantara started on a massive scale during the era of the seventh president Joko Widodo. The new capital is touted as a city of the future with a smart and environmentally friendly city concept.
Nusantara has also been designed to help Indonesia achieve a developed country status, in line with the Golden Indonesia 2045 Vision.
Earlier, at a press conference on January 6, 2025, Deputy Minister of Finance, Suahasil Nazara, said that the budget realization for Nusantara's development in 2024 reached Rp43.4 trillion (around US$2.64 billion), or 97.3 percent of the initial ceiling of Rp44.5 trillion.
He noted that the total allocation for the new capital's development from 2022 to 2024 was Rp75.8 trillion (around US$4.62 billion).
