Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto has said that the government is committed to improving the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program so that it can benefit all Indonesian children.

He made the statement on Monday during a coordination meeting with the National Nutrition Agency (BGN). He also reviewed the program's implementation at two schools in East Jakarta on the same day.

"I visited East Jakarta, inspected two schools and the kitchens. I thank BGN for their success," Prabowo said.

On that occasion, he acknowledged that there are still some technical challenges to running the MBG program, especially in the logistics procurement process, which have not been fully resolved.

However, the President emphasized that the program has only been on for one month and is a large-scale initiative that requires the collective effort of all stakeholders involved.

"This is a large-scale issue. It is colossal. We aim to feed 82 million children within a year, I believe this is a breakthrough," he said.

He further said that many parents, schools, and children have not yet felt the benefits of the MBG program. However, he assured that the government is committed to ensuring that the program reaches all parts of Indonesia.

"Nevertheless, we will work hard to reach the whole country," he said.

As reported earlier, President Prabowo reviewed the MBG program at public elementary school SDN Jati 05 Pagi in Pulogadung, East Jakarta, around 9 a.m. local time.

In addition to SDN Jati 05 Pagi, he reviewed the program's implementation at kindergarten TK Negeri 02.

During the visit, Prabowo held a virtual meeting with stakeholders of the MBG program. He also expressed his appreciation for the high level of participation at the meeting, with around four thousand participants joining the meeting via Zoom.
