Harsya indicated that his ministry is prepared to partner with other stakeholders to transform Jakarta into a creative economy city, particularly in the field of cinema, by organizing various creative economy events from 2025 to 2027.
"The creative economy, especially the film industry, has become a key driver in shaping cultural identity, creating quality employment opportunities, and enhancing the nation's global competitiveness," Minister Harsya noted in a press statement here on Wednesday.
He also stressed the importance of fortifying the film industry ecosystem by enhancing access to financing, expanding market reach, simplifying production licensing, and improving the quality of human resources.
According to Harsya, ensuring the quality of film production and distribution to the global market is also important.
Harsya stated that the film industry is not merely a form of entertainment but also an integral component of international diplomacy that can showcase Indonesian creative economy products globally.
He also drew attention to the challenges in safeguarding intellectual property rights, especially concerning film works, and emphasized the need for the creative economy to serve as a new engine for national economic growth.
The Ministry of Creative Economy praised the Jakarta Provincial Government and Tempo Group for hosting the "Jakarta Towards a Global Cinema City" event aimed at supporting the national film ecosystem and reinforcing Jakarta's determination to become a cinema city.
Cinema is not just an art form but also a vital pillar of the creative economy, enabling filmmakers to depict the life and dynamics of Jakarta's urban development.
