During a meeting with stakeholders here on Thursday, Hafid highlighted that the Indonesian government is currently prioritizing child protection in the digital sphere in order to address the diverse risks there.
The government is currently moving quickly to create a regulation to make the digital space safer for children, including setting age restrictions for accessing digital platforms, as well as ensuring that the platform managers can identify and protect children from harmful content.
In addition, the government is pushing digital literacy to empower children to utilize technology more wisely and safely.
"There is no intention to cut children's access to the internet. Instead, we want children to adopt technology safely and productively," she remarked.

She further highlighted the government's commitment to completing the regulation at the earliest, with the goal of minimizing the negative impact of the internet on children.
Hafid asserted that protecting children is not solely the government's responsibility, requiring active involvement from relevant institutions and the private sector to create a safe digital environment for Indonesian children.
President Prabowo Subianto has given the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs two months to complete the drafting of a regulation that is expected to ensure greater safety for children on social media.
Speaking to the press in Jakarta on Sunday, Minister Hafid announced that she had signed a decree forming a special team tasked with studying the plan to introduce age-based restrictions on children's access to social media platforms.
