"Hope that this action will inspire, strengthen the synergy, and also can participate in various elements of society to manage waste in Jakarta better, more integrated, and environmentally friendly," Jakarta acting governor Teguh Setyabudi said at the North Jakarta Mayor's Office on Monday.
He added that the hard work and synergy of all parties can make Jakarta one of the national pilot areas with effective, sustainable, and collaboration-based urban waste management.
The pilot project also reflects Jakarta's commitment to support efforts to accelerate the completion of a national waste management system, as stated in the Jakarta Indonesia Clean declaration.
"This is also a mandate of the Environment Minister," he said.
Setyabudi explained that the regional action plan that is being prepared covers strategic steps for waste management from upstream to downstream.
For example, in the upstream process, community participation in sorting, strengthening waste banks, and the circular economy will be increased.
Next, temporary shelters (TPS) and reduce, reuse, and recycle transfer stations (TPS3R) will be optimized for the implementation of easily biodegradable waste management technology and efficient waste transportation.
