Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Police's Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) has named Arsin, the head of Kohod Village in Tangerang District, Banten, as a suspect in a land certificates forgery case linked to the illegal sea fence in the district.

He is among the central figures named in the Tangerang illegal sea fence issue following the discovery of right-to-build and ownership certificates for the submerged land where the structure stood. The government has since annulled the certificates.

"We name Mr. A (Arsin), the Kohod village head (as suspect)," Bareskrim's director for general crimes investigation, Brigadier General Djuhandhani Rahardjo Puro, confirmed here on Tuesday.

Besides Arsin, investigators have named three other suspects, identified by their initials as UK, the secretary of Kohod Village, and SP and CE, the agents in power-of-attorneys issued for the land certificates, he said.

Puro informed that the four suspects allegedly conspired to forge and abuse forged land certificates in Kohod Village from December 2023 to November 2024.

The certificates forged by the suspects included statements of physical control of land, dispute-free land statements, land ownership statements, and power-of-attorneys on land certificate applications from Kohod village residents.

The investigation director said that the suspects apparently applied for land measurement process and land rights at the Tangerang District Land Office, which resulted in the issuance of 260 land ownership certificates in the name of Kohod residents.

He added that the four suspects were named following a case review conducted earlier on Tuesday.

The Bareskrim investigated the suspected forgery of certificates and false statements in original land certificates related to the issuance of 263 right-to-build certificates and 17 ownership certificates in Kohod Village, Tangerang.

During the process, police confiscated 263 certificate sheets and other office equipment from several places in Kohod Village, which are suspected to have been used to forge land certificates and related documents.
