During a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday, the Ministry's Marine and Fishery Products Competitiveness Strengthening Director Budi Sulistyo stated that fish production is projected to reach 3.06 million tons from January to March 2025.
This figure comprises 1.59 million tons of farm-raised fish and 1.47 million tons of wild-caught fish.
Meanwhile, during the February-March 2025 period, the estimated availability of fish is 2.09 million tons.
The projected demand for fish from Ramadan to Eid al-Fitr is 1.64 million tons.
"Based on this analysis, the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries believes that the availability of fish is estimated to be sufficient and safe to meet the needs of the community during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr," Sulistyo remarked.
He affirmed that the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries has implemented a strategy to ensure the availability of fish during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 2025.
The strategy includes periodically monitoring fish stocks and prices at production and distribution centers, strengthening fish distribution and multimodal transportation, ensuring the availability and operations of cold chain storage facilities, and ensuring fish supplies from distribution centers to the marketplace.
On the same occasion, Director General of Capture Fisheries at the ministry Lotharia Latif noted that his ministry continues to intensively monitor the production data collection process at fishing ports, including stocks and prices at the producer level, to ensure national fish supply availability.
