"So, the presence of the ministers tonight indicates and shows how strong the relations between the two countries are in various fields and levels," the ambassador said on the sidelines of the event here on Wednesday.
The iftar was held in conjunction with the launch of a program to distribute 40 tons of dates and copies of the Quran provided by King Salman for Muslims in Indonesia.
The ministers who attended the event included Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment, Muhaimin Iskandar; Minister of Religious Affairs, Nasaruddin Umar; Minister of Finance, Sri Mulyani Indrawati; Minister of Health, Budi Gunadi Sadikin; and Minister of Home Affairs, Tito Karnavian.
In addition, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Arrmanatha Nasir, ambassadors of friendly countries in Indonesia, and the representatives of several Islamic mass organizations also joined the event.
Through the fast-breaking dinner, Saudi Arabia sought to further strengthen relations between the two countries in various fields.
"And this is also in accordance with the direction of the leaders of both countries to improve relations to a more strategic level in various fields, investment, economy, trade, health, and other fields that need to be strengthened by both countries," Ambassador Amodi stated.
Concurring with the ambassador, Minister Iskandar welcomed measures to improve relations between the two countries.
"Cooperation in various fields will continue to be improved, including economic, social, religious, including reviewing employment cooperation," he added.
He also praised the distribution of dates and copies of the Quran.
"We welcome Saudi assistance to Muslims in Indonesia. And this is true friendship, especially in this blessed holy month of Ramadan," he said.
The steps taken by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through its embassy in Jakarta are expected to bolster relations between the two countries, he remarked.
"(Hopefully) Indonesia-Saudi relations will become stronger," he added.
