Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Population and Family Development is collaborating with the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture to update stunting data to create stunting reduction policies that are more effective and accurate.

In a meeting here on Friday, Secretary of the Ministry of Population and Family Development Budi Setiyono and Secretary of the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture Imam Machdi highlighted the importance of data for stunting reduction acceleration efforts.

"Every year, verification and validation are carried out for around 20 percent of data. However, this year, the updates are fewer due to efficiency," Setiyono noted in an official statement here on Friday.

He explained that under Law Number 52 of 2009, the Ministry of Population and Family Development is mandated to collect family data every five years and update the data annually.

This year, family data updating, scheduled for July, will target 2–3 million families, prioritizing family data that has not been updated since 2021.

Following Friday's meeting, the two ministries will implement their cooperation agreement on the acceleration of stunting prevention and reduction.

Meanwhile, Machdi underscored the importance of creating the right model and methodology to make stunting reduction collaboration more accurate.

He affirmed that his ministry is creating a model for stunting reduction efforts.

"However, there is no proper methodology yet. In principle, if there is a good and standardized methodology, all parties can apply the same thing so that policies can be in harmony," he remarked.

To date, the Ministry of Population and Family Development has recorded data for 75,653,359 families through its family data collection efforts, with over 40 million couples of reproductive age who require guidance and services from the government.
