"We have conducted a thorough assessment and mapped strategic points to ensure convenient SPKLU access for EV travelers," Edi Srimulyanti, PLN's Retail and Commerce Director, told ANTARA on Monday.
All the charging stations are equipped with 24-hour personnel.
PLN's key focus during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 1446 Hijr (Islamic calendar) is the deployment of these SPKLUs, as EV usage is expected to increase.
According to Srimulyanti, EV travel during Eid 2025 is projected to rise 500 percent, with 21,570 vehicles anticipated, up from 4,314 in 2024.
She further detailed that PLN, in collaboration with partners, operates 3,529 SPKLU units across 2,400 locations nationwide.
This includes 431 units in Sumatra, 2,448 in Java, 166 in Bali, 215 in Kalimantan, 145 in Sulawesi, 26 in Maluku, 72 in Nusa Tenggara, and 26 in Papua.
PLN has also deployed 12 mobile SPKLU units along the Trans-Java-Sumatra route.
Technological support is provided through the PLN Mobile application, which features Electric Vehicle Digital Services (EVDS) to locate nearby SPKLU and includes a trip planner to help users map routes and identify optimal charging points.
"Customers will easily locate SPKLUs. The PLN Mobile features enable seamless SPKLU searches and charging planning with the Trip Planner," she remarked.
