The ministry's Director General of Consumer Protection and Trading Order Moga Simatupang stated that these business operators comprise distributors, manufacturers, repackers, and retailers.
"The number of business operators that we have found to have committed violations, including distributors, manufacturers, repackers, and retailers, reach 106," he remarked here on Wednesday.
As a response, the ministry has imposed sanctions, issued warnings, and initiated product withdrawals from circulation to be repacked and distributed to ensure compliance with packaging size regulations.
According to Simatupang, these sanctions are administrative and have already been coordinated with the National Police's Criminal Investigation Agency and Food Task Force for further legal proceedings.
Furthermore, Simatupang assured that Minyakita products would remain available without shortages.
He added that Trade Minister Budi Santoso had invited distributors to coordinate regarding the readiness for Minyakita supply during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 2025.
"The minister has also invited distributors who also have plantations to increase distribution for Eid al-Fitr," he remarked.
Earlier, the Ministry of Trade gathered business operators involved in packaging Minyakita in a coordination meeting on Tuesday (March 18).
During the meeting, the ministry urged business operators to comply with the regulations on the Minyakita brand, as stated in Ministerial Regulation No. 18 of 2024 and other provisions.
The ministry also encouraged business operators to prioritize the distribution of Minyakita to the people’s market.
Ensuring proper distribution is crucial to ensure that the Minyakita oil reaches the right target market, especially the lower-middle class.
