Jakarta (ANTARA) - Head of the Finance Ministry's Fiscal Policy Agency (BKF) Febrio Kacaribu highlighted that Indonesia's manufacturing sector remains competitive amid the global trade dynamics.

This is reflected in Indonesia's Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI), which reached 52.4 in March 2025, continuing an expansive trend since December 2024.

"The ongoing expansion in manufacturing is driven by continued production growth over the past few months, both due to increased domestic demand during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr, as well as export demand," Kacaribu said, as quoted here on Wednesday.

The agency head also attributed this growth to optimism about future economic prospects.

Indonesia's several key trade partners, such as China (PMI 51.2), India (PMI 58.1), and the United States (PMI 50.2), have also shown manufacturing expansion.

Hence, Kacaribu is optimistic that this condition would strengthen Indonesia's position, which remains stable and competitive in the region, while simultaneously boosting export demand from key partner countries.

"This performance sends a positive signal for the prospects of the national manufacturing sector amid the global trade dynamics affected by tariff wars," he stated.

Economic resilience is further reflected in the Consumer Confidence Index (IKK), which remains at an optimistic level.

The IKK stood at 126.4 in February 2025, indicating strong public confidence in current economic conditions.

"This development strengthens the hope that domestic consumption can continue contributing to economic growth in the first quarter of 2025," he remarked.

The government remains committed to maintaining price stability and fostering consumer confidence by implementing various policy measures to ensure sustained economic contributions from public consumption.
