During the signing of collaboration deals between his ministry and the associations in Jakarta on Monday, Youth and Sports Minister Dito Ariotedjo highlighted that the funds were allocated to sports represented by Indonesia at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics.
The allocation details include Rp24.9 billion for sport climbing, Rp37.6 billion each for weightlifting and badminton, Rp20.3 billion for archery, Rp19.9 billion for athletics, Rp19.2 billion for rowing, Rp18 billion for shooting, Rp13.4 billion for cycling, Rp10.6 billion for judo, Rp9.8 billion for swimming, Rp8.9 billion for surfing, and Rp8.8 billion for gymnastics.
Ariotedjo stated that the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) received the largest share—Rp199.7 billion—despite the Indonesian football team's failure to qualify for the Olympics last year.
The minister explained that this decision aligns with President Prabowo Subianto's directive to accelerate Indonesia's football ecosystem development, as a nationally strategic sport.
Additionally, funds of Rp4.9 billion and Rp7.9 billion were allocated for preparations related to Indonesia's participation in this year's world-level sport climbing and surf tournaments, respectively.
The minister emphasized that the government had undertaken a lengthy and comprehensive evaluation process involving academicians and sports experts before making the funding decisions.
He also issued a warning to all stakeholders to ensure the proper utilization of these funds, stressing that any misappropriation would lead to legal consequences.
"We will take firm legal actions," he emphasized.
Furthermore, Ariotedjo highlighted that the funds should be effectively utilized to improve performance across various sports, aiming for participation and excellence in upcoming international events, notably the 2025 SEA Games, 2026 Asian Games, and 2028 Olympics.
