Palu, C Sulawesi (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister of Human Rights, Mugiyanto, emphasized the importance of preventing violence and criminalization in resolving agrarian conflicts.

"It is necessary to pay attention to preventing violence and criminalization in the resolution of agrarian conflicts," he stated during the workshop "Developing the Roadmap for the Agrarian Conflict Resolution (PKA) Task Force" here on Thursday.

He explained that violence only deepens trauma and perpetuates cycles of prolonged hostility, while criminalization often targets vulnerable groups and worsens inequality.

On the other hand, prioritizing a humanistic dialogue approach that respects human rights is a more constructive step toward achieving conflict resolution.

Mugiyanto remarked that this workshop on developing a roadmap for agrarian conflict resolution was also an opportunity to discuss crucial issues that require follow-up.

The event could also strengthen synergy among the government, civil society organizations, community leaders, academics, and affected communities.

According to the deputy minister, such synergy is crucial to providing ideas for integrating human rights values into the roadmap.

"This roadmap is expected to strengthen and guide the PKA Task Force in Central Sulawesi to achieve strategic goals, such as resolving agrarian conflicts and ensuring fair legal certainty for affected communities," he stated.

He explained that agrarian conflict is a fundamental issue of unequal access and inadequate protection of land and natural resource rights.

Therefore, resolving agrarian conflicts cannot be approached partially; it must be systematic, cross-sectoral, human rights-based, and ensure the full participation of affected communities.

Meanwhile, the government issued Presidential Regulation (Perpres) No. 60 of 2023 on the National Strategy for Business and Human Rights, under which the Ministry of Human Rights has established a regional task force on business and human rights (GTR BHAM) spread across all regional offices.
