“We have learnt from past mistakes and improved ourselves so that the trend continues to decline, but this does not make us complacent, arrogant, or careless,” Minister Antoni, according to an official statement received here on Tuesday.
He noted that Indonesia has faced disasters related to forest and land fires in the past.
However, according to the minister, all parties involved in the prevention and handling of forest and land fires have learned well, which has led to a continuous decline in fire occurrence.

“We are a nation of learners and hard workers; in our history, we have faced truly alarming disasters, but the data shows that everyone’s hard work has resulted in success, as reflected in the statistics,” he said.
He added that the incidence of forest and land fires declined significantly from 1.1 million in 2023 to 370 thousand in 2024.
Additionally, he emphasized three factors that contributed to this trend: collaboration, prevention and law enforcement, and community participation.
Minister Antoni participated in the Disaster Preparedness Drill for Forest and Land Fires 2025.
During the agenda, the minister conducted a troop inspection and checked vehicles and equipment used by several stakeholders for the prevention and handling of forest and land fires.
“Today’s drill serves as a reminder that even though the trend of forest fires is decreasing, we must remain vigilant,” he said.
