"We realize that currently, the strength of our cooperation is in the energy sector. Indonesia imports a lot of oil from Angola, but we also realize that the potential (in other fields) is very large," Nasir stated at the inauguration of the Angolan Embassy building in Jakarta, Wednesday (April 30).
The deputy minister noted that the potential for economic cooperation spans agriculture, mining, important minerals, and the digital sector.
Nasir remarked that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will explore other potential areas of cooperation, including agribusiness, tourism, and manufacturing.
Indonesia and Angola agreed to intensify cooperation in diplomatic training and education, as well as research and development.
Additionally, both countries aim to develop political cooperation, particularly to strengthen the role of the Global South.
According to Arrmanatha, Angola is keen to enhance Asia-Africa cooperation, especially as it assumes the presidency of the African Union.
"We are also preparing a framework for cooperation. Thus, there will be regular interactions and regular meetings at the senior official level, at the ministerial level, and hopefully, at the level of heads of state and government," he affirmed.
He noted that Indonesia views Angola as not only a major partner in Africa but also an important player in the Global South.
Given the current geopolitical situation, he affirmed that both countries have meaningful roles to advance multilateralism and law enforcement globally.
He also expressed hope that the ASEAN and the African regions will continue strengthening their cooperation.
