Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated the Special Hajj and Umrah Terminal at Terminal 2F of Soekarno Hatta International Airport, Tangerang, Banten, on Sunday.

During the inauguration ceremony, President Prabowo, along with several officials and representatives from Saudi Arabia, pressed a siren button to launch the special terminal.

The Indonesian president then continued to sign the inauguration plaque for the Special Hajj and Umrah Terminal.

"Today I have a great honor to inaugurate the Special Hajj and Umrah Terminal at Terminal 2F, Soekarno Hatta International Airport," President Prabowo remarked in his speech.

At the event, the President praised the results of the airport's revitalization, including the Special Hajj and Umrah Terminal.

"The government wants to provide our (Hajj and Umrah) pilgrims with the best service. We also understand that many of our pilgrims are elderly, so they really need to be taken care of," he stated.

At the Special Hajj and Umrah Terminal, Indonesian Hajj pilgrims will use a separate lane called the "Makkah Route" to queue for the Saudi Arabian immigration counters at Soekarno Hatta International Airport.

A total of 10 immigration counters are specially prepared to serve Indonesian Hajj pilgrims departing for Mecca, Saudi Arabia.

At these immigration counters, each of Indonesian Hajj pilgrims will receive a stamp from the Saudi Arabian authorities, so that upon their arrival in Saudi Arabia, they will no longer have to queue at the immigration counters.

After inaugurating the Special Hajj and Umrah Terminal, President Prabowo continued to tour and check several facilities at Terminal 2F of the airport.
