Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto has formed a special task force to accelerate the establishment of 80 thousand Red and White Village Cooperatives across Indonesia.

This was confirmed by Coordinating Minister for Food, Zulkifli Hasan, who has been appointed as the task force's chair, after a limited meeting at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, on Thursday.

Given Indonesia's vast territory, the task force will have day-to-day managers and day-to-day managers' coordinators to ensure that the program's technical implementation in the field is quick and even, he informed.

According to Hasan, the coordinator positions will be filled by deputy ministers, including Deputy Minister of Cooperatives, Ferry Juliantono.

The minister reported that as of Thursday afternoon, as many as 9,835 Red and White Village Cooperatives have been formed across Indonesia.

He said that the village cooperatives will be officially launched and start operations on October 28, 2025, coinciding with Youth Pledge Day.

President Prabowo issued Presidential Instruction Number 9 of 2025 on the Acceleration of the Red and White Village Cooperatives' Formation to expedite the establishment of 80 thousand village cooperatives across the country.

The Red and White Village Cooperatives program aims to strengthen food self-sufficiency, promote economic equality, and develop independent villages to support the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision.

The Red and White Cooperatives are also envisioned as hubs of economic and social services for village communities, including providing savings, loans, and clinic services.
