Chair of the Indonesian Buddhist Council (WALUBI) S. Hartati Murdaya stated here on Saturday that the two-day social service, held on Saturday and Sunday (May 11), involves about 200 doctors and 300 medical personnel.
She explained that the social event is open to the public, regardless of religion, ethnicity, or background.
Murdaya emphasized that every act of kindness generates a positive impact, benefiting both the recipients and those who give.

“We believe that every act of goodness we do will bring great benefits, not only to those who receive it but also to ourselves. Let us strive to sow good deeds, for what we plant today will bear fruit for a better life in the future,” she stated.
She also expressed gratitude to the doctors, medical personnel, and volunteers from all backgrounds who have come together for this humanitarian cause.
This year’s Vesak Day celebration carries the theme “Enhance Self-Control and Wisdom to Realize World Peace”, with the sub-theme “United for Vesak Peace for the Happiness of All Beings.”
“The theme and the sub-theme remind us that world peace begins with individual awareness in self-restraint and the cultivation of goodness,” she added.
As Buddhists, she noted, teachings encourage reducing greed and fostering compassion for each other.
These good values are being put into practice through the free medical service in celebration of the sacred day for Buddhists in Indonesia and around the world.
