Tangerang, Banten (ANTARA) - Minister of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions Yandri Susanto designated the nutrition fulfillment service unit (SPPG) in Panongan Village, Tangerang District, as a model kitchen to support the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program.

“(The SPPG) in Panongan Village will serve as a model, showing that SPPGs can be established by village-run enterprises (BUMDes) as part of the commitment to supporting the MBG program,” he stated here on Wednesday.

Susanto explained that the SPPG model in Panongan Village would be replicated in other villages across Indonesia through BUMDes management.

If successfully implemented nationwide, the program could help fulfill the communities' nutritional needs in rural areas, aligning with President Prabowo Subianto’s Astacita missions.

“Our way of showing commitment is by helping the government establish supporting kitchens and accelerate MBG service by the end of the year, as the president has targeted 82.9 million beneficiaries, which will require around 30 thousand kitchens,” he remarked.

Minister Susanto also noted that his side has coordinated with the National Nutrition Agency to allow BUMDes to participate as suppliers of raw ingredients or materials for the MBG program.

He urged BUMDes nationwide to seize this opportunity to boost local productivity and stimulate rural economic growth.

“The faster and better prepared the SPPG development is, the more people will benefit. In Banten alone, there are about 550 thousand beneficiaries,” he added.

Moreover, the minister encouraged all village stakeholders to contribute to the MBG program by providing nutritious food ingredients sourced from local production.

“Nutritious food ingredients should ideally be supplied by the village itself or through exchanges with neighboring villages," he explained.

In addition, he highlighted that the ministry has already introduced thematic village programs, such as egg-producing villages, meat-producing villages, tilapia fish villages, and corn and rice villages.
