Jeju, South Korea (ANTARA) -

Indonesia's Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Abdul Mu’ti, shared his ministry’s vision and key priority programs during the 7th APEC Education Ministers’ Meeting (AEMM) in Jeju, South Korea, on Wednesday.

Speaking at one of the sessions, Mu’ti emphasized the ministry’s commitment to achieving “Quality Education for All” through strategic initiatives, including 13 years of compulsory education and the digitalization of the education sector.

He stated that digital transformation is a crucial tool in overcoming various challenges in the education ecosystem.

“Digitalization of education, including the use of artificial intelligence (AI), coding, and deep learning, is part of our effort to ensure access to quality education for all,” he explained.

Mu’ti also noted that Indonesia and South Korea have already established cooperation in education digitalization. For example, Indonesia is collaborating with South Korea’s Enuma Team to develop a digital learning platform for early childhood education.

While in Jeju, Mu’ti held bilateral meetings with education ministers from other APEC member countries, including South Korean Education Minister Lee Ju-Ho, who currently also serves as the country's acting president and prime minister.

In response to Mu’ti’s presentation, Lee expressed interest in working with Indonesia to expand digital learning programs.

The South Korean government reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Indonesia’s “Quality Education for All” vision through digital initiatives, especially to extend education access to remote and underserved communities.

Lee also shared South Korea’s experiences in promoting equitable education, noting that the country faces similar challenges in providing access in remote areas such as Jeju. He outlined the obstacles encountered and potential solutions being explored.
