Jakarta (ANTARA) - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka stated that the Free Health Check-up (CKG) program is highly relevant for supporting urban communities, which are more susceptible to non-communicable diseases (NCD).

VP Gibran made the statement on Tuesday while inspecting the CKG program's implementation at two local health centers in Jakarta: Kembangan Sub-district health center in West Jakarta and Pesanggrahan Sub-district health center in South Jakarta.

"The urban communities' lifestyle, which tends to make people vulnerable to non-communicable diseases, such as hypertension and diabetes, emphasizes the importance of utilizing the free health check service," he noted as written in the VP Secretariat statement.

The CKG program is part of President Prabowo Subianto’s administration’s commitment to expanding equitable access to quality basic healthcare services for all citizens.

During the visit, VP Gibran reaffirmed the government's commitment to maintaining access to basic public services, including healthcare, as a vital investment in building healthy, productive, and resilient human resources.

Head of the Adult and Elderly Cluster 3 at the Pesanggrahan Health Center, Edwinaditya Sekar Putri, drew attention to the high public enthusiasm for the CKG Program.

She explained that this enthusiasm came not only from the elderly but also from individuals of productive age who are using the program as part of their routine health monitoring.

“With the CKG program, patients who previously had BPJS but never used it come in and realize, ‘Oh, it is actually convenient to use BPJS for check-up,’” she remarked.

She also highlighted the importance of fostering a public mindset that prioritizes not only treatment measures but also preventive and promotive efforts against diseases.

The CKG program's services are not only limited to lab tests but also cover follow-up tests and education for the public.
