Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Immigration and Corrections Agus Andrianto reaffirmed a zero-tolerance policy for foreign nationals engaging in illegal activities in Indonesia that disrupt public order.

"Especially those related to violations of moral norms that damage the nation's future generations. Anyone who lives in this country must comply with applicable laws," he noted in a statement on Wednesday.

He conveyed this in response to the case of a US citizen who violated his residence permit by producing pornographic content in Indonesia.

In addition, Acting Director General of Immigration, Yuldi Yusman, also emphasized his office's full commitment to law enforcement and to maintaining the dignity of the nation in the face of immigration violations.

"We will continue to increase supervision of foreigners' activities and take firm action on those violating the sovereignty of law and the state ideology and do not make a positive contribution to the nation and state," he stated.

On Wednesday, the Directorate General of Immigration disclosed the case of a US citizen, with the initials TK, who was arrested for allegedly producing and distributing pornographic content in Indonesia through social media.

According to Yusman, TK entered Indonesia on January 25, 2025, with a visit permit. He landed at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Bali, from Bangkok, Thailand.

While in Bali, TK sought individuals to participate in pornographic videos, with at least two Indonesian citizens believed to be victims.

He was arrested on March 25, 2025, at Ngurah Rai Airport and transferred to Jakarta on April 9 for further investigation.

Immigration confiscated evidence of electronic devices, such as cameras and other image recording devices, mobile phones, tablets, and external hard disks used to store pornographic videos. From the evidence, hundreds of amateur-quality videos were found.

TK is now being held in Class I Central Jakarta Detention Center. Later, the Immigration will send his files to the Attorney General's Office to be processed in general criminal cases.

Regarding immigration crimes, TK is suspected of violating Article 122, letter a of Law Number 6 of 2011 concerning Immigration for misusing or carrying out activities that are not in accordance with the residence permit.

He faces up to five years' imprisonment and a maximum fine of Rp500 million (US$29 thousand).
