Kuala Lumpur (ANTARA) - ASEAN foreign ministers met on Sunday in Kuala Lumpur to discuss key regional and international issues in line with Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship theme "ASEAN 2025: Inclusiveness and Sustainability."

The meeting, led by Malaysian Foreign Minister Mohamad Hasan, focused on strengthening the development of the ASEAN Community, including a briefing by the ASEAN Secretariat on the development of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC).

According to the Malaysian Foreign Ministry, the ministers will also discuss the follow-up to the ASEAN Leaders' Review of the Five-Point Consensus on Myanmar, which was also led by Malaysia.

The ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting, held ahead of the 46th ASEAN Summit, also discussed ASEAN's engagement with external partners under the ASEAN External Relations agenda.

The meeting also discussed Timor-Leste's full membership in ASEAN, including the implementation of guidelines for Timor-Leste's compliance with ASEAN legal instruments within the framework of the ASEAN Foreign Ministers.

The outcome of the meeting will be the basis for discussions at the 46th ASEAN Summit, the 2nd ASEAN–GCC Summit, and the ASEAN–GCC–China Summit, scheduled to take place on 26-27 May 2025 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC).

ASEAN Foreign Ministers, including Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono, have arrived in Kuala Lumpur since Saturday to attend a series of ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meetings and the 46th ASEAN Summit.

In addition, a number of meetings also took place on Sunday at KLCC, including the 25th ASEAN Economic Community Council, the 29th ASEAN Political and Security Community Council, the 36th ASEAN Coordinating Council, and the ASEAN-Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Ministerial Meeting.
