The two leaders co-chaired a bilateral meeting with their respective delegations on the sidelines of the 46th Summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Monday.
"It is true that the two countries have been enjoying harmonious relations for years. However, we have to acknowledge a slight decline in our bilateral trade. Let us find ways to intensify and strengthen our trade ties," he told PM Siphandone during the meeting.
Prabowo proposed that Indonesia and Laos explore potential cooperation in mineral exploration, agriculture, and the fertilizer industry.
He affirmed that Indonesia is ready and willing to collaborate.

He also drew attention to shared transnational issues, emphasizing the need for joint action on the smuggling of drugs, human trafficking, online gambling, and online scams.
"I think it is crucial for both of our countries to address these problems," he stressed.
Additionally, he referred to his visit to Laotian capital Vientiane last year, when he was hosted by PM Siphandone and the President of Laos, Thongloun Sisoulith.
Prabowo then praised Laos for its 2024 ASEAN chairmanship, describing it as successful leadership.
"Let us continue working together and support Malaysia as the chair of ASEAN this year," he told the Laotian delegation.
After the meeting, President Prabowo proceeded to convene with Prime Minister of Singapore, Lawrence Wong.
Foreign Affairs Minister Sugiono, Investment and Downstreaming Minister Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman, Trade Minister Budi Santoso, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya accompanied Prabowo to the two meetings.
