"In West Java, around 1,150 students will take part in the program at 11 sites," Minister Yusuf remarked here on Thursday.
Meanwhile, at the national level, the minister remarked that the Ministry of Public Works is currently renovating 65 locations for the Sekolah Rakyat program.
"We expect renovations to be completed by July. If the target is met, the total number of pilot sites for the Sekolah Rakyat program could reach 100," he noted.
The minister stated that the Sekolah Rakyat facility in Bandung District will be used temporarily this year, utilizing the athlete dormitory located at Si Jalak Harupat Stadium.
"After local governments propose (more suitable) buildings, the Public Works Ministry will assess their capacity, condition, and feasibility. If deemed appropriate, the ministry will carry out light to moderate renovations," he explained.
He further highlighted that the current temporary Sekolah Rakyat site and the dormitory will only be used for a year. Students will later be transferred to permanent school buildings currently being prepared by local governments.
"Once no longer in use, the athlete dormitory will return to its original function or be used to fulfill service standards in the education sector," he stated.
Yusuf affirmed that his side is also finalizing all planning aspects while simultaneously conducting recruitment for school principals, teachers, education staff, and prospective students.
"Thus, in addition to preparing infrastructure, the curriculum is also being prepared, and recruitment and selection of school heads and teachers are also underway," the minister stated.
