Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian government should make energy self-sufficiency a main mission in every national energy policy to achieve the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision, according to a legislator.

"If we aspire to become a developed nation by 2045, we must stand on a self-sufficient, just, and sovereign energy foundation," Dewi Yustisiana, a member of Commission XII of the House of Representatives (DPR), noted in a statement received here on Friday.

She emphasized that Indonesia cannot continue to rely on imports; therefore, achieving energy self-sufficiency is key to the country's progress.

Yustisiana praised the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources for its approach to the energy sector. She noted that Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia has positioned energy within a more fundamental framework, namely as part of the national aspirations.

"He often emphasizes the importance of a constitutional and justice perspective in analyzing and deciding the direction of the national energy policies," she remarked.

This approach is deemed in line with the vision of President Prabowo Subianto, who prioritizes an ideological perspective in national development. She highlighted that energy is not merely about supply or price but also about sovereignty, sustainability, and equity.

The legislator emphasized the importance of adopting a constitutional approach in national energy policies to ensure social justice and national sovereignty.

She stated that the principles of national energy management must be grounded on the constitutional foundation, in accordance with the 1945 Constitution of Indonesia. This concept highlights that energy is not only an economic commodity but also a people's right and an instrument for social justice.

"By placing energy within the constitutional framework, Indonesia not only strengthens its energy sovereignty but also ensures that energy becomes a strategic force in realizing the aspirations of independence and social justice for all Indonesians," she affirmed.
