Badung, Bali (ANTARA) - Indonesia's Ministry of Environment has ensured that it will continue to strengthen support for community-led environmental action, including funding for groups and individuals.

The ministry's Chief Secretary Rosa Vivien Ratnawati stated in Badung, Bali, on Wednesday that the government supports public efforts through the Indonesia Environment Fund (BPDLH) and the Payments for Environmental Services (PJLH).

"For individuals, indeed, we must ensure that they continue to work professionally in carrying out the activities," she remarked.

Ratnawati noted that securing funding remains a challenge for individuals and groups to sustain their activities consistently over the years.

She added that this challenge is also faced by environmental activists who received the Kalpataru awards.

The awards are presented by the Indonesian government to individuals or groups in recognition of their efforts to preserve the environment.

Additionally, she drew attention to other challenges including inconsistency among people and the difficulty of finding facilitators with strong commitment.

The Ministry of Environment is also encouraging businesses to participate in supporting environmental action across the country, which has been shown to have a positive impact on the environment.

"They need funds to be able to work optimally. To this end, I urge businesses to continue to provide support," she remarked.

Earlier, the Ministry of Environment issued Environment Minister's Regulation Number 02 of 2025 concerning the Development of Payments for Environmental Services System.

The regulation is a derivative of Article 48 of Government Regulation Number 46 of 2017 on Environmental Economic Instruments and provides a legal framework to transform voluntary conservation activities into incentive-based initiatives.
