"This policy is expected to be an economic stimulus to boost economic growth and maintain the purchasing power of the community as well as support safe, comfortable, and efficient mobility during the long holiday period," he informed here on Thursday.
The Ministry of Public Works, through the Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT), has appealed to toll road managers to provide a 20-percent toll tariff discount during the Eid al-Adha and school holidays.
Hanggodo said that this step is expected to lower travel costs for the community. This, in turn, would ensure that the increase in people's movement during the Eid al-Adha and school holidays stokes economic activities in regions and boosts purchasing power.
The discount will be valid for 10 days: the Eid al-Adha holiday period (June 6 to 9, 2205), the start of the school holidays (June 27 to 29), and the end of the school holidays (July 11 to 13).
According to the Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, the toll discount is meant to improve the people's economy.
It is a part of the government's efforts to optimize the state budget to provide benefits to the community.
The toll road discount is one of the economic incentives announced by the government recently.
In addition to toll roads, the government has also readied a transportation discount package comprising three types of discounts, which are targeted to benefit around 2.8 million passengers.
Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati said that the total state budget allocation for the transportation discounts is Rp940 billion (approximately US$57.7 million), and the discounts will be provided in June and July 2025.
