He symbolically presented the Qurbani animals to Istiqlal's acting Grand Imam Mulawarman Hannase near the mosque's VVIP entrance after the Eid al-Adha prayer and sermon on Friday.
"Mr. President and Mr. Vice President tasked me with handing over their sacrificial animals to the Istiqlal Mosque. The President's cattle weighs 1.25 tons, while the Vice President's weighs 1.1 tons," he told reporters after the ceremony.
Culture Minister Fadli Zon and People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) Speaker Ahmad Muzani were also present at the handover.
In a separate statement at the mosque, acting Grand Imam Hannase announced that a total of 50 cattle and 79 goats -- including those donated by Prabowo and Gibran -- would be slaughtered on Saturday.
Regarding the distribution process, Hannase informed that to avoid crowding at the mosque, the meat would be delivered to the public via foundations partnered with Istiqlal Mosque.
He added that Religious Affairs Minister Nasaruddin Umar, who is also the mosque's Grand Imam, is planning to hold a special sacrificial meat feast for around two thousand orphans from Jakarta and surrounding areas on Sunday.
"We will invite two thousand orphans to a Qurbani dining event initiated by the religious affairs minister," he said.
He emphasized that the upcoming event will go beyond distributing meat, as it will also aim to foster a spirit of togetherness during Eid al-Adha celebrations.
Earlier on Thursday, Deputy Minister of State Secretary, Juri Ardiantoro, revealed that President Prabowo has prepared 985 sacrificial cattle for this year's Eid al-Adha.
The animals, weighing between 800 kilograms and 1.3 tons, are being distributed through regional governments to designated houses of worship, he said.
Ardiantoro assured the public that all the animals are of sufficient age, healthy, free from defects, and belong to premium breeds, such as Limousin, Brahman, and Simmental.
