Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Arif Havas Oegroseno, on Sunday extended the invitation to Monaco's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Isabelle Berro-Amadei, on the sidelines of the Blue Economy and Finance Forum (BEFF) 2025 in Monaco.
According to a written statement issued by the Foreign Ministry in Jakarta on Monday, the two leaders discussed a number of strategic issues, including the preservation of marine ecosystems, coral reefs, and marine biodiversity.
They also discussed the use of the sea under the blue economy approach, seaweed-based innovation, mangrove and coastal ecosystem conservation, and strengthening cooperation in the digital and financial fields.
Oegroseno attended the BEFF in Monaco on June 7 and 8, 2025, a special event of the United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC).
He also attended the 4th plenary session on "Ensuring Sustainable Ocean Governance and Finance," with the first panel themed "Looking Forward: Global Solutions for Ocean Finance" and the second panel on "Statements and Governance Recommendations."
The first panel highlighted concrete solutions for bridging the global ocean funding gap, as well as transformative initiatives that support the development of an inclusive and sustainable blue economy.
The second panel discussed the importance of political leadership and innovative policy strategies for encouraging ocean financing and attracting sustainable investment within the framework of the global blue economy.
Indonesia's participation in BEFF 2025 marks its commitment to global maritime diplomacy and strengthening international collaboration for the protection and sustainable use of marine resources.
The BEFF was an initiative of Prince Albert II of Monaco, who used the momentum of UNOC to encourage global dialogue and collaboration in blue economy.
