The MoU was signed in Jakarta on Friday by Ahmad Haikal Hasan, Head of Indonesia’s Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH), and New Zealand’s Ambassador to Indonesia, Phillip Taula.
In a statement released on Saturday, Hasan said the agreement marks a new chapter in strengthening cooperation between the two countries, especially in the halal trade sector.
“This signing shows international recognition of the credibility of Indonesia’s halal system,” he said. “It also strengthens Indonesia’s position as a key player in the global halal industry.”
He explained that the agreement will help make the trade of halal products between Indonesia and New Zealand easier and more efficient. He also expressed hope that it will boost productivity and benefit both sides.
Hasan added that this partnership expands Indonesia’s global halal network and brings the country one step closer to becoming a hub for the global halal industry.
Ambassador Taula welcomed the agreement, saying it will improve access to halal markets by making trade faster and more reliable for both countries.
He noted that the cooperation brings legal certainty, better logistics, and easier market access for halal businesses.
Taula also highlighted that the agreement opens up opportunities for cross-border halal investment and collaboration in research and innovation.
