The program has set a national record by drawing participation from 2,500 Muslimat NU members to become the largest online women’s paralegal training ever held in Indonesia.
“We are witnessing another Indonesian record being created today. I believe that gathering 2,500 participants is not a difficult task for Muslimat NU,” Agtas said in his opening remarks.
He praised the program’s target to form village and sub-district legal aid posts (Posbankum) with the help of the 2,500 trained paralegals.
“Our target this year is seven thousand Posbankum. The ministry has already facilitated the formation of 5,008, and together, Muslimat NU can establish 1,790,” he informed.
Agtas expressed the hope that eventually, all Indonesian villages and sub-districts, which total nearly 80 thousand, will have their own Posbankum.
He said that achieving the goal of establishing Posbankum, which will seek to improve access to justice for the people, requires collaboration between ministries and community organizations.
“This includes cooperation with the Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection, Ministry of Villages, and Ministry of Home Affairs, as well as civil society organizations. With 36 million members, Muslimat NU can provide Posbankum in every village,” he added.
He emphasized that the paralegal training program is designed to equip participants with the skills and knowledge required to serve as community-based paralegals and help villagers access legal protection and empowerment.
“What we seek through this training is to provide a simple, community-oriented approach to justice through the establishment of legal aid posts,” he said.
