Tangerang, Banten (ANTARA) - Minister of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions, Yandri Susanto, has asked rural youth to actively support development in their villages.

“We will take concrete steps at the village level to invite youngsters to play an active role in village development,” he said after opening a meeting on the Pioneer Youth Ready to Develop Villages program in Tangerang, Banten, on Monday.

According to the minister, Indonesian youth have an important and strategic role in implementing President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita missions.

He said the Pioneer Youth Ready to Develop Villages program, which his ministry is carrying out in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, is expected to help rural youth become more involved in advancing their villages.

In addition, village youth will get to contribute to the Red and White Village Cooperatives program designed by the government.

Meanwhile, Youth and Sports Minister Dito Ariotedjo said that the program is a concrete step by the government to create a good young generation.

According to the minister, youth development is crucial for improving the competitiveness and strengthening the character of the nation’s young generation.

“We hope this can be a driving force for villages that will later influence the management of the village government or village cooperatives. Because involving and fostering the youth will certainly influence villages in Indonesia to become more advanced,” he said.

He further emphasized that cooperation is an inseparable part of advancing a great country. Therefore, he added, the presence of creative youth is a valuable asset for the development of villages and the country as a whole.
