Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto affirmed Indonesia's commitment to promoting collaboration and the peaceful resolution of global conflicts—a stance he believes is shared by President Vladimir Putin.

“In international affairs, as President Putin explained earlier, Indonesia and Russia indeed share many views,” Prabowo said during a joint press statement with the Russian President at the Constantine Palace in St. Petersburg, Russia, on Thursday.

Prabowo emphasized that both countries are committed to respecting the sovereignty of all nations and rejecting inter-state conflict.

“We respect the sovereignty of all nations. We are keen to see all issues resolved peacefully and to prioritize collaboration over conflict,” he stated.

Earlier in the same forum, President Putin affirmed that Russia shares Indonesia’s positions on key regional and global issues, particularly concerning national sovereignty.

“We discussed major issues on the global agenda. We noted that Russia’s and Indonesia’s stances on most global and regional matters are similar, if not identical,” he said.

Beyond affirming his commitment to sovereignty on the international stage, Putin also voiced support for a peaceful, united, and developing Asia-Pacific region, of which Indonesia is a part.

He stressed the importance of coordinating with Indonesia in various international forums, including the United Nations and other global platforms.

President Prabowo is currently in St. Petersburg for a state visit that began on June 18. Before meeting with Putin, he laid a wreath at the Piskaryovskoye Memorial Cemetery to honor the victims of the Siege of Leningrad.

On Friday, June 20, Prabowo is scheduled to deliver a keynote speech at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) 2025, which brings together heads of state and global economic leaders.
