This is a response to the provision of the MBG program in the form of raw food ingredients for five days simultaneously in South Tangerang, Banten, which was previously discussed on social media.
"Next week we will conduct a meeting discussing the scheme for MBG provision during school holidays," Gunawan said in a press statement on Sunday.
According to him, BGN has not issued a specific policy related to the distribution of MBG by providing raw food ingredients.
In addition, he said that the agency has conducted a trial by offering meals at school and establishing the habit of communal eating among students during the school holiday.
"Students still come to school to eat together, but some of them refuse. Therefore, we are reviewing other regulations," Gunawan explained.
He informed that the provision of raw food materials for MBG in South Tangerang was initiated by the head of the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) in the region, to anticipate school holidays.
Earlier, the head of the East Ciputat Yasmit SPPG, A Basiro, explained that the distribution of raw food materials for MBG was carried out by his party to thousands of students in 18 schools, ranging from kindergarten to high school.
"We distributed it to 4,075 students. Students can take it home or store it longer," he said.
According to him, this step is taken to accommodate students to still enjoy the benefit of the MBG program by taking the food home.
Gunawan informed that as of this Sunday, the MBG beneficiaries have reached 5,228,529 people.
The MBG program targets various groups of beneficiaries, ranging from students from kindergarten to high schools, pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and toddlers.
