"The President has asked me to arrange a retreat in Magelang for regional secretaries. As senior bureaucrats, it's important to strengthen their capacity," Karnavian said on Monday.
Speaking after opening the second batch of the national retreat for regional leaders at the Institute of Public Administration (IPDN) in Sumedang, West Java, Karnavian confirmed the upcoming event would be held at the Military Academy in Magelang, Central Java.
He added that the date for the retreat has been set, and Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Bima Arya Sugiarto will lead the event.
Also present at the event, West Java Regional Secretary Herman Suryatman affirmed his readiness to attend alongside his counterparts from other provinces and municipalities.
He expressed confidence that all regional secretaries from West Java share the same enthusiasm, noting that local officials in the province routinely collaborate to discuss strategies for accelerating development.
"In principle, we are ready for the retreat," Suryatman said.
Earlier, Minister Karnavian officially opened the second round of the regional leaders’ retreat, describing it as a platform to foster unity and shared vision among regional officials.
He explained that IPDN was chosen as the venue due to its accessibility and institutional relevance.
A total of 86 regional leaders are participating in the retreat, which runs through June 26. Participants include two governors, three deputy governors, 38 district heads, 37 deputy district heads, three mayors, and three deputy mayors.
According to the agenda, representatives from 31 ministries and agencies will deliver presentations covering topics such as national resilience, President Prabowo’s eight key missions (Asta Cita), strategic government programs, regional leadership roles, political leadership, communication, and intergovernmental coordination.
